Hour of Code

We had an amazing time in the STEAM room.  Mrs. Kleisen is amazing at finding hands on activities that make every kids feel successful... and at the same time, CHALLENGED!  Here are just a few pictures from that fun morning!

Mystery Reader

Thank you Ms. Saffold for being so flexible with times (our family day time was switched at the last minute).  We ALL enjoyed the stories you shared!

Mystery Reader

Many thanks to Caroline's cousin for coming in to read to our class.  You certainly stumped the kids... the clue about being a singer in a band as well as a voice on the radio definitely
 added to the mystery!

CHOOSE KIND!

After reading the book  Wonder, we brainstormed ways WE could choose kindness
(a theme throughout the book).  Make sure to ask your child what his/her idea was.

Mystery Reader

Many thanks to Olivia's  Mom for coming in to read to us!  We always love
 having a Mystery Reader!

States of Matter (cont)

In this experiment the kids got to work with air (gas) and liquids.  The idea was to cut off the amount of air going into the bottle using a funnel and clay.  The kids then poured water into the funnel, and if they successfully sealed off the funnel and bottle... the water stayed IN the funnel and did NOT go into the bottle!

States of Matter

We did quite a few experiments during our States of Matter unit.  In this experiment... we took a closer look at the different density levels in various liquids like: honey,  oil, corn starch and water and timed how long it took a penny to get to the bottom of the cup.
